Volunteer

Yavapai County values the critical role of volunteer organizations in bolstering community safety and emergency preparedness. Among these are Animal Disaster Services and the Large Animal Shelter & Emergency Readiness program, which provide essential services during disasters involving pets and larger animals. Additionally, the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) offer indispensable communication support when conventional systems fail. These volunteer groups, along with others like them, are foundational to Yavapai County’s strategy to ensure a resilient community. By working together, they ensure that both human and animal residents receive the protection and care needed during emergencies.

Large Animal Sheltering & Emergency Readiness (LASER)

To provide safe shelter for barn animals during evacuations in Yavapai County and to provide information for emergency preparedness.

Animal Disaster Services

When an evacuation order is issued, under the direction of Yavapai County Emergency Management, A.D.S. will provide a shelter for pets and small domesticated animals. Services are provided 24 hours per day, throughout the duration of the evacuation order.

Amateur Radio ARES / RACES

To provide emergency communication support to the agencies and communities we serve, during natural and man-made disasters.

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) /Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) group is composed of all volunteers. They provide communications capability for Yavapai County when requested. All of the volunteers are FCC licensed radio operators.
